Letter From the Seller

The first thing that drew me to this house was the address: Sunrise Drive. I came to love watching the sun rise – always within view of my front windows strategically facing the rising sun. My gardens have expanded over the years,  starting with just one patch of coneflowers near the north side of the house. I have planted plenty of native plants and flowers, and experimented with 100+ varieties of flowers, ground cover, and raised beds for vegetables. Not only are they beautiful but they also decrease the need to mow grass! The side yard to the north is huge and a great place to set a chair – or gazebo – and enjoy whatever is in bloom.

 

The Kenny neighborhood is one of the best in Minneapolis! This house is near Anthony Middle School (which has an excellent IB program), and Kenny community grade school (which has an emphasis on nature and gardening).  The park grounds in between the two schools are busy with baseball and soccer in the summer, and sledding and ice skating in the winter.

 

The location near two major highways makes it easy to get around. Although I like to walk my dog and bicycle around to see the local interests. Be sure to check out the great new restaurants on Penn and Xerxes Avenues near 54th: Pizzeria Lola, Red Wagon Pizza, Book Club, and Lucky Oven Bakery. You’ll also appreciate other places that are within 2 miles including Kowalski’s, the library, Anytime Fitness, Lunds/Byerly’s, and Ace Hardware. Lake Harriet is about 3 miles north. If you are concerned about internet access, USI is currently installing fiber optic cables in the neighborhood so you will be happy with affordable internet options.

 

The catulpa tree in front is the source of awe and gawking in early summer. Watch for hundreds of blooming flowers in early June. People literally stop in their tracks to look at the tree when it is in bloom. I had it pruned and evaluated for health by Rainbow Tree in 2017 and it is in excellent condition.

 

Inside the house, it is cozy and charming (or so I think)! My favorite details are the newel post at the bottom of the living room stairs, and the built in hutch. I love the look of old houses, and this is unique in this neighborhood. The size of the yard is especially unique – plenty of room to enjoy being outside.
